Healthcare Technology Management - HTM

Since 1993 the Protestant Church (EED / EMW) and the Catholic organisation, Misereor have funded a programme on healthcare technology.
The aim of the programme was capacity development and implementation of appropriate technology in health institutions in the South.
In the mid-90s the programme focused more on technical aspects but in the meantime, the demand of partners in the South and North shifted towards the management aspects of healthcare technology.
The programme was coordinated, organised and developed by FAKT.

The programme offered the following services:

Dissemination of knowledge and know-how:
Identification of sources and resource persons, expertise for donor agencies in the North, active participation in professional discussions and networks

Basic-data collection:
Updating data bases, and the generic description of medical devices

Development of training modules:
Inventory of equipment and property, requirements for procurement, tendering and
bidding, modules for the specific requirements of Health Care Technical Services,
South-South exchange (practical)

Management capacity development:
Preparation of practical procedures and guides, organisation of workshops, seminars and meetings

Key target groups were donors in the North and health service providers in the South.
