Impact Assessment on the Eradication of Child Labour

Over 50 million children are working in India, many of them under deplorable conditions. Improving their situation is the overall goal of a considerable number of projects which are funded by Terre des Hommes (tdh) Germany and supported by tdh India. The project strategies vary from rescuing bonded child workers, promoting and improving elementary education, to supporting networks and campaigns.

The impact assessment undertaken by a FAKT consultant together with an Indian consultant analyses the functioning of different strategies, by assessing their outcomes and impacts on the basis of case studies. Five selected partner projects include children working in the textile industry (Tamil Nadu), agricultural and service sectors (Maharasthra, Orissa), as well as stone and iron ore mining (Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh).
