Technical Support to Address the Nexus between Climate Change and Prioritized Areas for Sustainable Development in the Implementation Strategy of the Project ProAgenda
To implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Honduras and to strengthen government, private sector, and civil society capacities to unlock climate change mitigation and adaptation potential, GIZ launched the ProAgenda Project. The reduction of greenhouse gases provides opportunities for Honduras and can generate additional international funding to advance its commitments under the Paris Agreement and generate multiple co-benefits for improving adaptation to climate change, health, innovation, and economic development in various sectors. Since this requires a national effort to establish an enabling environment for low-emission development, GIZ cooperates with the key ministries within the Government of Honduras playing a central role in developing and implementing climate change mitigation and adaptation policies and measures, as well as a medium and long-term vision on sustainable development.
The project is marked by the complexities in the nexus between climate change, environmental degradation, socio-economic conditions and poverty, migration, and gender and human rights, peace, and security that require a comprehensive and tailor-made approach involving research and dialogue. Addressing and monitoring these issues is key to meeting the ProAgenda indicators.
